About
A lifelong student of the jazz tradition, Cameron Milligan combines the old with the modern in his fresh approach to improvisation and composition. A professional trumpeter since age 18, he currently freelances in Halifax in a variety of settings, ranging from commercial and film music to contemporary jazz. Cameron has had the privilege of studying and working with some of the greatest jazz musicians in Canada. He currently holds a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance, as well as a master’s in performance and composition. Cameron works actively as a performer, arranger, and composer.
“Luminescence” is the first album to be recorded under his name. Featuring all original compositions, Cameron strives to establish his own voice through his compositions and improvisations. His music draws heavily on the influences of Wayne Shorter, Kenny Wheeler, and Woody Shaw.
